Allan Cole became a licensed funeral director in 1978, after following in his grandfather’s footsteps. He has served on several committees and boards to support initiatives that promote funeral service in Canada and the United States. Allan has the distinction as Canada’s first civilian contractor for Mortuary Affairs for the Government of Canada, is certified in Mass Fatality Operation Training from the United States Department of the Air Force, Air Mobility Command, and has received a number of awards throughout his career, including the FSAC Award of Merit in 2013. Today, Allan is the President and Owner of MacKinnon & Bowes, where he started working at in 1975. Allan will serve as the FSAC President for the 2020-2021 term.

Ashley Montroy grew up in funeral service. She was born into her family’s funeral home in Gananoque, Ontario where she lived on-site for 13 years. Shortly after this, her father,  Kevin Montroy founded FrontRunner Professional. Today, Ashley is currently the VP of Marketing with FrontRunner, and has been in marketing for the company for over a decade.  She has also taught funeral professionals at 50+ national, state and provincial conventions. As an FSAC Board Member, she created the Public Awareness Committee and launched FuneralAdvisor by FSAC, helped launched FSAC Academy and more. She looks forward to continuing to bring new initiatives to FSAC members and will serve as the Vice-President of FSAC for the 2020-2021 term.

Jeff Weafer’s career in the death care profession began in 1994 with Arbor Memorial at the Regina Funeral Home & Cemetery, where he is presently the Managing Director. Today, Jeff is a licensed funeral director, embalmer and pre-need salesperson in Saskatchewan, a place that has always been home. He became a funeral director to pursue his passion for excellence in service while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Jeff is also the current Chairperson for the Funeral & Cremation Services Council of Saskatchewan, a past-President of the Saskatchewan Board of Funeral Home Owners, an elected Council member since 2016, and is actively involved in the FCSC. He is also a single father to six incredible children, ranging from 10 to 25 years of age, and considers being a good father a privilege. Jeff will serve as the FSAC Treasurer for the 2020-2021 term.

Nathalie is a first generation funeral director who is fully bilingual. Born in a small community named Sainte-Anne de Kent, NB. She grew up in Cap-Pelé, NB “au Coeur de L’Acadie” and now residing in Saint-Antoine, NB with her husband Yves Doiron and three children: Olivia, Mykel and Rayn.

 

After graduating from High School Nathalie explored the Atlantic Provinces which she lived in Newfoundland for 5 years. Upon her return to New Brunswick she enrolled to the Canadian College of Funeral Service which she graduated with in 2017. While studying Nathalie started her apprenticeship at Passage Funeral Home in Shediac Bridge, NB and completed her license requirements at Chartersville Funeral Home, Dieppe. Joined the Arbor Memorial team at Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery, Moncton in 2021.

 

Nathalie was a recipient of a scholarship with the Professional Women’s Conference 2021. She has been an active member on several FSAC committees since 2020 and as well a member of the Arbor Everyday Excellence Committee. Nathalie is passionate about helping others in her community which she contributed numerous volunteering hours and continue to be an active volunteer throughout her community and non-profit organizations. 

 

In her spare time Nathalie enjoys spending time with her family. Enjoys reading, travelling and spending time at the Beach Aboiteau during the summer months. Practicing yoga has been a new-found interest of hers. 



Bruce Hogg

Bruce is a first generation funeral director. He has been licensed as a funeral director and embalmer for more than 40 years. His career began while he was in high school at Sweeney’s funeral home in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia in 1976. Soon after becoming fully licensed in 1980, he traveled to Australia for work where he received a diploma from the British Institute of Embalmers. Bruce holds licenses in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, his career has brought him to work in Amherst, NS, Pictou, NS and Fredericton, NB before moving to Minto, NB in 1991. He managed Minto Funeral Home for 6 years before becoming a partner in 1997. In 2007, Minto Funeral Home expanded to the neighboring community of Chipman, NB where the Chipman Community Chapel was opened. As of 2015, Bruce became soul proprietor of the business, renaming it Hogg Funeral & Cremation Services. 


Bruce has been an active member of his community over the years serving on several committees and boards. He is the past treasurer and past chair of finance for the Mill Cove nursing home. He was also a former member of the lion’s club, as well as the rotary club. Currently, Bruce is serving his 5th term on the New Brunswick Board for Registration of Embalmers, Funeral Directors and Funeral Providers and is serving his 2nd term as Chairman of the Board. Bruce is chair of the community vault committee in Minto and sits on several cemetery committees as well. 


In his spare time Bruce enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife Gloria have a daughter, Nicole; a son Jeff and a granddaughter Penelope.

Simon was born in Amqui, Québec but moved to a small community near Ottawa, Ontario at a young age. He began working in the funeral industry at the age of 16. Passionate about helping people in his community, he decided to enroll at College Boreal to pursue a career in funeral services. Simon has been part of the Dignity Memorial Family since December 2003. In is role of Market Director at Service Corporation International Canada, Simon leads a team of 37 funeral homes in the province of Quebec. On his time off, Simon enjoys outdoor activities with his family.

Shawn is from the town of Sidney on Vancouver Island, BC. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces as an Air Navigator and flew in the Maritime Helicopter community aboard the Sea King helicopter. He flew operationally as a member of 443 Squadron on the West Coast, and 423 Squadron on the East Coast as a Tactical Coordinator and Crew Commander aboard the warships HMCS Huron, Annapolis, Vancouver, Preserver, and St. Johns. As a member of 406 Squadron, he flew as an Instructor and Standards Officer. His final posting in Canada was as the Commanding Officer of 443 Squadron in Victoria, BC. He was subsequently posted overseas to England where he instructed on the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.

 

Retiring from the RCAF as an Air Combat Systems Officer following 32 years of service, he enrolled in the Funeral Director and Embalmer Licensure Program with the Canadian College of Funeral Service while working as an apprentice at Belvedere Funeral Home in Charlottetown, PEI. Completing the program in 2020, he also has a Bachelor of Military Arts and Science from the Royal Military College in Kingston and is a graduate of the Joint Command and Staff Program at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto.

 

He has five children, Steven, Rhiannon, Riley-Mae, Andrew, and Sarah, and is married to Catherine, originally from Charlottetown. They live in East Suffolk and have a cabin at Lakeside on the North Shore.

Ray has been in the Canadian funeral supply industry for 3 decades with Batesville and has more than 18 years of senior management experience. He has an in-depth comprehension of the B2B sales channel, marketing, financial analytics and universal business management with extensive knowledge in the consumer goods industry, distribution and retail sectors; with significant merchandising, containment, and labour management experience. He’s currently active as the treasurer and chair of the executive committee of the Canadian Funeral Trade Association and has been a board member since 2006 and was a past president. He also was as a board member of the Funeral Profession Coalition Council of Canada (FPCCC) from 2007 thru 2017 and was the past chair. Ray is an active member of a number of provincial and district funeral associations across Canada.

Ray is also active in other volunteer boards and public boards outside of the funeral profession which has provided excellent learning and experience which has been another way of contributing to areas that has been important to him. He continues to be an active volunteer and donor for the Sick Kids Foundation, Lung Cancer Research Foundation and Save Me Dog Rescue.

Kollin grew up in the funeral business and currently owns Sydney Memorial Chapel and Cape Breton Crematorium in Nova Scotia. He has a deep interest in the current and future changes that affect and benefit the funeral industry. Kollin has represented the Funeral Service Association of Nova Scotia (FSANS) on the Nova Scotia Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers, and served as the Nova Scotia Board of Registration's Secretary. He is proud to have great relationships with peers across Nova Scotia, speaking to funeral directors weekly on different topics and concerns, and is looking forward to representing Nova Scotia as an FSAC Board Director.

Janet has been involved in the funeral service profession for over 30 years and has developed strong relationships within the deathcare sector, governments and regulatory boards across the country. The opportunity to take on the career of her lifetime began at Sands Funeral Chapels in Victoria, BC that ignited her passion to go above-and-beyond serving the funeral service profession. Janet served as Executive Director of the British Columbia Funeral Association for 23 years and held several key advisory positions to government and public agencies as well as investing several years in competency based funeral director and embalmer licensure programs and administering these programs. In 2013 she assumed the role of Manager of Government and Corporate Affairs for Service Corporation International (Canada) and continues to encourage deathcare professionals to build upon positive working relationships with each other and position the profession as a unified key policy player in the minds of government.

 

Her knowledge, skills and abilities to identify issues and potential solutions and her experience with legislative process have connected her with both stakeholders and regulatory leaders from across Canada. Today Janet continues to serve with the same passion on a variety of provincial and international committees and is a trusted advisor on challenges and opportunities within the deathcare sector.



Jeff Hagel

Jeff graduated with his applied degree in small business and entrepreneurship and his diploma in international business from Mount Royal University. He worked outside of the funeral profession until 2004 when he made a career change, went back to Mount Royal University and took their distance learning funeral directors certificate program while obtaining his funeral director and embalmers licenses in Edmonton, AB. Jeff joined McInnis & Holloway in June of 2007 and became a partner in October 2011 and President in 2020. In 2015 Jeff was voted onto the Alberta Funeral Service Regulatory Board where he contributed to the working relationship between the board and the profession and various government ministries. In addition to his role on other boards in Calgary, Jeff and his wife Danielle have two children Joshua and Jacob.

Diane is fully bilingual and has extensive experience in the not for profit, public and private domains. She worked in office administration, event coordination, and financial management, and has served as Executive Director for the Québec Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. Diane has a worked with many not for profit organizations including the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, the Canadian Red Cross, and the Ottawa Community Housing Corporation.
